While on the way to meet him, she becomes immersed in awkward conversation-hell with a man who believes she is the answer to all of his problems. Unfortunately, his problems involve a stolen microchip and a counter fit ring. Unwittingly, Lexi becomes the centre of an FBI investigation and target to some very unhappy thieves when the man with the microchip is found dead. The characters are perfectly dialogued in this fast-paced mystery. A definite read to lose yourself in this summer. Mar 06, Teena in Toronto rated it really liked it.
Computer geek Lexi is on vacation with her friend, Basia. Basia loves nothing better than to chill on the beach. Lexi finds it to be torture since she doesn't like the sun or sand and she has to be in a bathing suit but mostly because Basia made her leave her computer home. It turns out they work for the same government agency as she does and they are experts in gaming.
Then Lexi meets Computer geek Lexi is on vacation with her friend, Basia. Then Lexi meets a guy in the lobby bar who was sobbing because his computer kept locking up. Lexi is able to fix it in two minutes and breaking two of his fingers in the process and he ends up confiding his secret to her I liked Lexi.
She is a year-old socially-awkward computer geek whose mother is always trying to set her up with prospective rich husbands. Basia and the Zimmerman twins are lively supporting characters. I liked the writing style and found it amusing at times. The story was interesting. It is written in first person perspective from Lexi's point of view. It is part of the Lexi Carmichael series there are currently seven in the series.

I like getting into series and am looking forward to getting caught up on this series. Though it is part of a series, it works as a stand alone so you don't have to read the first one to get caught up, especially since this is the prequel to the first one I've only read the first one. Nov 30, A. Lindsay rated it it was amazing Shelves: mystery , recommended , comedy.
The Lexi Carmichael mysteries are my go-to books when I'm feeling blue, under the weather, frustrated with life, or just in the mood for an escape.
This novella is earmarked as book 2. While I read it that way originally, it actually takes place before the series begins, so whenever I re-read these books which I've done at least a dozen times I like to start with this novella and then move into the series proper. This novella introduces us to the Zimmerman twins, who are recurri The Lexi Carmichael mysteries are my go-to books when I'm feeling blue, under the weather, frustrated with life, or just in the mood for an escape. This novella introduces us to the Zimmerman twins, who are recurring characters in the series. It begins and ends with hilarity and action.
The pace never sags in the middle. Lexi's voice grabs you from the start and sweeps you away on an adventure. I cannot recommend this book or this series! Jun 04, Tara Chevrestt rated it really liked it Shelves: release , kindle. This is the third book in the Lexi Carmichael series, but it's actually a prequel to to books one and two and about half the length. That's just an estimate, mind you. This is when Lexi met the Zimmerman twins. And oh, Elvis is def my favorite.
I hope she hooks up with him somewhere down the road. Anyway, as usual, Ms. Moffett gives us a mystery with a HUGE dose of humor. Seems Lexi is eager to get Elvis out of his pants.
Just read it!!! Find out how a wa This is the third book in the Lexi Carmichael series, but it's actually a prequel to to books one and two and about half the length. Find out how a wave and rogue vacuum cleaner steal the show. Jul 05, Jeanie Jackson rated it really liked it Shelves: suspense. I love the prequel to the Lexi Carmichael series. I adore the Zimmerman twins and this is the tale of when they first met worked together. I am not a big fan of prequels but I had to try this one and was so glad I did.
I do wonder when Lexi is gong to realize that a certain computer nerd is crazy about her. In typical Lexi fashion, a trip to the beach, a nightmare in her world, gets even more complicated than she would ever imagine when she is literally left holding the bag.
Jun 18, Tina Gummerson rated it it was amazing. This was great. We learn how Lexi and Basia meet the Zimmermans and it's just the beginning of Lexi's adventures. I enjoyed this book a lot, it was pretty hilarious in places. I sometimes don't like books that are novellas, but I didn't really feel like there was anything missing. The story was great, the characters were true, and it was all wrapped up in the end without feeling like you needed another 10 chapters.
Jan 07, Linniegayl rated it really liked it Shelves: mystery-suspense-other. This was a completely fun novella that serves as the prequel to the series. In it Lexi and Basia are on vacation at the beach where they meet the Zimmerman twins for the first time. Lexi quickly also meets a man who's involved in something criminal, and gets Lexi and friends sucked into the problems. There were some incredibly funny moments in the book, but I also liked seeing how the friendship between Lexi and the Zimmerman's began.
Jul 27, Julie Jones rated it liked it. After the first page of the first book, I realized this was going to read like a carbon copy of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. It's basically the same blueprint, so similar in some cases that I nearly put it down.
But I still couldn't help but get pulled in. These books are quick, entertaining reads. I made it through all seven books in a week. I'll read the eighth when it comes out in the fall. Oct 16, Linda rated it it was amazing Shelves: american-theme , mystery-thriller , audiobooks. I loved the book but I love all Lexi Carmichael books. This is a short novella that fits between book 1 and 2. It describes the meeting with Elvis and Xavier and helps explain the connection.
I like the later books better but finding out more information is always good. Geek stories are always fun to read. I love technology and Lexi makes it so easy. Dec 21, Pamela Tracy rated it it was amazing Shelves: mystery.
No Strings Attached: A Lexi Carmichael Mystery, Book Eight
I put off reading this I've now read them all and am waiting for the January release, so thought I'd give it a shot. My experience reading the novellas authors drop in hasn't been positive. This one way. Loved the beach, loved the hints of the future for Basia, loved the mystery including a bad guy with a hidden heart. Aug 10, Pamela rated it liked it. This was a cute and sometimes funny novella, but I'm not sure why it was written.
Lexi Carmichael's history had already been established in the first two books. Rather than book three in the series it would have been more accurate to call it book 0. May 28, Karyogini rated it it was amazing Shelves: read-on Surprisingly not as short as I expected. I usually find the novels of JM short and fast paced. So I was thinking since this is a 0. I has a full plot and not so much character introduction which I guess makes it shorter that the regular novel Oops, I did it again Leave it to me, Lexi Carmichael, to become a target for an elite organization of cyber criminals simply by being in the wrong place at the right time.
