Truth be told — it was shockingly GOOD!! In the first week of juicing he lost and incredible 10 pounds, which of course was mostly water weight, but this only pushed him harder to stick to it.

Can Juicing Help You Lose Weight?

And because he FEELS so much better, he has started working out regularly and has cut his drinking down significantly. Not only has he gotten me on board, but his family bought a juicer, my mom is now buying one and even people he works with are looking into it. With that said, juicing may not be for everyone! Juicing kale is perfect because you can sneak it into almost anything giving you all those vitamins and nutrients for your body to absorb in its raw state!

With that said, I wanted to share our favorite recipe that is perfect for beginners! Chris started off making this drink daily, but then slowly started adding in more green veggies once he adjusted to drinking that much juice. Fruits are good for you of course, but you really have to watch how many you put into your drinks because all that sugar can add up working against weight loss.

Still this is a great jump start to juicing and I hope you all enjoy it! For more ideas on what to do with all that pulp, feel free to check out THIS helpful site. How is this 6 WW points plus if kale and celery are 0 points and fruit is free? It could possibly be 6 points in the old system, but it would be 0 points plus. Good to hear! Love your site, by the way!

Hi there! Love the site! Fruits and most veggies are 0 points, but since juicing takes out the fiber, etc, it makes the juices have point values of more than zero. Alicia makes a good point. Juicing in a juicer does remove the fiber thus making fruit juice alone, so Alicia is correct. Thanks for mentioning that! I love juicing! I had just recently heard about this documentary, now I am even more curious about it!

Yes a vitamix would work great! Oh juicing..

I love it so! I actually have a huge bunch of kale and a bag of organic carrots that are awaiting the juicer as we speak! I typically either maintain my weight or gain a little drinking juice because I add it to three full meals, but I can skip the multivitamin so it works for me! Especially since it also makes me feel better. Love that. I am a juicer myself and was VERY skeptical when I started but I swear I have been able to keep from getting sick by drinking a few fresh juices a week.

Always looking for great recipes for juicing so thank you Kelly! I was so inspired by that documentary too! I will have to try your favorite juice. It sounds yummy.

  • I love adding pears to my juices. What kind of juicer do you have? Well he still has a ways to go his goal is to lose 60 to 70 pounds , but he drinks two large juices a day as breakfast and dinner along with a lunch high in protein and veggies with a few snacks throughout the day.

One juice for him is 16 oz and he drinks a ton of water as well! This is amazing! Why have I forgotten about juicing as a weight loss tool? But green smoothies are surprisingly yummy especially when bananas are involved! Juices are delicious, but I am a bit wary of the amount of sugar that is ingested all in one go. It seems like 2 servings per person of fruit at one time is a lot to me. Just curious if there are any nutritionists reading that can clarify this. Current nutritional recommendations are for between five and nine pieces or servings of fruit and veg minimum per day.

Juicing or blending in something like a Vitamix is a great way to ensure you access all the nutrients and enzymes. I also try to have an equal volume of water to drink through the day. I actually have both a blendtec like a vitamix and a breville juicer. It really adds up very quickly. So is he having juice for breakfast and dinner, then just lunch consists of foods?

He stay pretty full? Any snacks with that? He does a juice for breakfast about 16 oz and one for dinner. For lunch he eats anything from grilled chicken and veggies to turkey chili haha aka whatever I made for him to bring and brings snacks like almonds, veggies or protein bars.

I tried this recipe and it was lovely. I found that the Kale I used a whole bag made very little juice and most of it ended up in the pulp bin. Is that normal with Kale. Did you use a bag of already chopped kale or whole kale with the stems? We found that we got barely any juice when using the bag of chopped — not sure why but we tend to get a ton of juice when using the stem and all! Just a thought to try next time!

I saw the comment where you said a vitamix would work, but do you think a Ninja blender would? So yeah. Get your juice on girl, get it on! So glad your finace is finding amazing success, too! SO true!! Hooray for fruits and veggies! This looks like a delicious green juice. Thank you for sharing the recipe. Great post! I started juicing 2 days ago, and I drink it instead of dinner.

What is the name of the website with a new juice recipe every day for a month? Would love to check it out. Well said! We love, LOVE juicing! We also have the Breville and make a juice concoction every morning! Try a piece of fresh ginger in your juice! It enhances the taste even more. Oh wow! A couple questions on juicing — what kind of juicer do you use? Do you recommend it, or is there another one you have your eye on?

Also, do you find juicing expensive? I love green veggie juices! One piece of advice though, do some research on the different types of juicers out there and the pros and cons of each before you purchase. But I wish I had considered investing in a masticating juicer instead of going for the cheaper one. Good for Chris for getting healthy!

Does he replace breakfast and dinner with the juices? Thank you SO much for this post!! I just finished Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead tonight, and what an inspirational and positive film. I bought a slow juicer a few weeks ago, but found it too difficult to clean juice seeped into the screws etc. So excited to incorporate more green juice, and do a juice cleanse someday.

Green juice is delicious!! That looks so good! I might watch it now though haha, because I do want to get my juicer out more, but am lacking the motivation, because cleaning it is just so much effort! Can I ask how your boyfriend does it twice a day? Does he wash it both times? I love juicing, especially green juice. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

So glad to see another tasty juice recipe! I just recently watched this documentary too and have started getting fresh juices from my local health foods store while I try to decide on a juicer—there are so many out there to choose from!

    Does Juice Fasting Work?

Would love to see other juice recipes you and your fiance have tried and like :. He claims swapping junk food for juice helped him overcome severe asthma, psoriasis, eczema and hay fever, as well as helping him lose weight. By juicing, you also skip what Vale refers to as the "energy-zapping digestive process". Not all nutritionists are into this idea, their stance being that our body cleanses itself naturally so there's no need to spend a fortnight surviving on nothing but a few cucumbers. Gwyneth Paltrow — a veritable green-juice guru, even if her recipes could go a bit easier on the lemon — lasted 10 days on a juice cleanse before she started hallucinating, and has slammed them in the press.

Much as I enjoy a good hallucination, I've not attempted a cleanse. When juice is all you're having, it becomes dangerous. So besides gaining massive respect for Gwyneth Paltrow, what are the downsides of juicing? Juicing can be an extremely healthy pursuit — providing you don't collapse from the sheer high-octane thrill of it all.
