Belarus: At A Crossroads In History
Robert Kirchubel. Katja Richters. David Marples. Love and Science. Jan Vilcek. The Collapse of the Soviet Union, Gentlemen, you were the most admirable of companions! Your coffee and tea are still keeping me company, the sweets are done The New Zealand guidebook makes a most exciting reading, hopefully will manage a visit one day A. Belarus and Minsk could be uninteresting unless you have Andrei helping you understand the history and geopolitics.
Went on a city tour and then to Mir Castle. Both excellent. Andrei knows all the good spots for coffee, food even went to a Soviet style cafeterias for lunch , bathrooms, and things to do. He also has a comfortable car and will do things at your pace.

Couple all that with excellent language skills and a sense of humor and your time in Minsk will be pleasurable. Highest kudos! Thank you Joseph, the pleasure is all mine! Andrei was an excellent guide, very knowledgable with many an interesting story to share. He picked us up from outside our apartment and made us feel very welcome and safe. His tour is a fantastic way to see this interesting city and learn about its history and culture.
I would certainly recommend it to others. Thank you so much, Ian! It's a shame that with your departure dead season seems to be setting in A. A friendly, polite person with incredible knowledge of both Belorussian and European history - pair that with excellent language skills and the fact that he's a terrific driver and ask yourself what more could you possibly ask for!
I booked Andrei for a tour to Khatyn and Glory Mound - four hours incredibly well spent to a sad but yet wonderful place. In a country like Belarus which is not quite geared up for tourism yet, people like Andrei Burdenkov are gold. Highly recommended! Thank you, Christian, I keep on perfecting my performance It was lovely to have you aboard after having discussed so many things on TA forum. Regarding that picture of Stalin we discussed - I seem to know the location in town.
Will check and get back soon! Andrei Burdenkov of Minsk City Private Tour took my son and me to the village in Belarus from which my grandfather immigrated to the United States in at the age of Andrei was the best private guide imaginable. He had researched the background of the area, knew exactly where to go and how to get there, and enlisted the support of everyone he saw in the village who might have information on my family. His outstanding efforts paid off for us in a big way, because we got to meet some incredibly lovely people.
In one day, we felt that we really touched and were touched by this interesting and beautiful place. Belarus lost one fourth of its entire population in that war, including many Jews and also many non-Jews. To grasp that concept, one must think of the United States, which currently has more than million residents, losing 75 million of them.
Such a loss cannot be forgotten, even after several generations. On our second day Andrei took us to Khatyn not to be confused with Katyn in Russia , the place where a village of inhabitants was destroyed by the Nazis in There is a memorial there to the victims of the Nazis all over Belarus. It is extremely moving. I would recommend Andrei without hesitation to anyone who wants to have an unforgettable experience visiting a country that has much more to offer than people sometimes assume.
Thank you so much, gentlemen! During your visit I have learned quite a few things about my own country, too. It is particularly lovely that the honey made it through the US customs A. I would like to commend Andrei for his punctuality, professionalism, and breadth of knowledge of Minsk. He is definitely a reliable tour guide, and I would recommend his services to anyone interested in visiting such an interesting city. Flights Vacation Rentals Restaurants Things to do.
